Recently we had to make the very upsetting decision to have our dog ‘put to sleep’ due to medical issues. Needless to say it was a very sad day to have to say farewell to our darling dog, Harry who was 15 years old.
In preparation for his farewell I made up a mini altar in our living room. It consisted of hand painted bottles by my daughter, of Star of Bethlehem and Clematis. Plus a candle holder, a gift from our son, and a guardian angel, a gift from a dear friend. To add a splash of colour I added some artificial pink roses and some daffodils. Close at hand was some Rescue Spray, Rescue Cream & Pastilles.
I also made up a farewell mix of remedies, and hoped that it helped him have a peaceful send off.
The remedies in the mix were:
Rescue Remedy (calmness), Star of Bethlehem (shock/trauma), Crab Apple (cleanse the mind), Walnut (protection from outside influences), Cherry Plum (calm/composure), Elm (overwhelmed), and Red Chestnut (concern for loved ones).
Harry will always have a special place in our hearts. This Fall we plan to have a family memorial for him and plant a flowering shrub in his memory.
